While Andersen® awning window units are not handed, some awning window parts are handed.
Awning Window as Viewed from Interior
Hinges
Hinges
are located on either side of the window sash. They support the window sash. Awning hinges are handed from the interior (inside) of the home. For example, if a hinge is located on the left-hand side of the window unit as viewed from inside of the home, the hinge is left-handed.
Locks
Lock
components are located and visible from the interior (inside) of the home. The image to the left illustrates the awning lock handle and bezel, which can be used to determine the handing of the lock mechanism. Awning windows have two (2) lock mechanisms, lock handles and bezels, one on either side of the window sash. The lock mechanisms are handed from the interior (inside) of the home. For example, if a lock is on the right-hand side of the window unit as viewed from inside of the home, the lock is right-handed.
All other replacement parts such as awning window sash
and operators
are not handed.
