Concealed Lock Installation for Casement and Awning Windows

To install a replacement concealed lock on a 400 Series or A-Series casement or awning window, please see the written instructions and YouTube® videos below. The replacement instructions found in the YouTube® videos below can be used for both A-Series and 400 Series casement and awning windows.
Remove the lock handle, lock bezel, operator handle, and operator cover from the window unit. Save the screws
Using a utility knife, score along the edge between the interior stops and the frame to break the paint or stain seal (see image). Be careful not to damage stops or extension jambs
Interior Side Stops on the Frame
Slide the flat end of the pry bar under the sash stops to loosen. Remove interior sash stops
Using the cutting nippers, remove any nails that may remain in the extension jambs and stops. Pull the nails from the backside of the stops to prevent damage to the face of the wood. Discard the nails
Remove the three (3) mounting screws from the lower sash lock and (if applicable) the two (2) mounting screws from the upper lock
Install the replacement sash lock using the original mounting screws or the screws provided with the replacement lock
Reapply the interior sash stops with 4d finishing nails and fill nail holes with wood filler
Reapply the operator cover, operator handle, lock bezel, and lock handle
