This article will assist in checking the hinge assemblies for operation and condition. If the hinge is bent, detached, or damaged hinge component, replacement is recommended. Each insect screen panel will have either two (2) or three (3) hinge assemblies depending on the height of the patio door unit, as outlined in the installation guides.
Andersen® insect screen door hinges are comprised of three (3) components:
An upper leaf is attached to the frame of the insect screen door panel.
A lower leaf is attached to the frame of the patio door unit.
A pin is inserted through the two leaves and holds the insect screen hinge assembly together.
To replace the hinges on Andersen® hinged insect screen panels, follow the instructions provided in the YouTube® video and installation guide below. If you need assistance identifying your Andersen® products, visit our Identify Your Productpathway in the Andersen® Window and Door Help Center.
When reinstalling the hinge, the existing hole should be used. If enlarged, then fill the hole using Bondo® filler, Quickwood® epoxy putty, or fiberglass body filler following the manufacturer's instructions for use.
