Tempered glass on Andersen® products is treated by heating the glass and rapidly cooling it, creating areas of compression and tension that make it stronger than non-tempered glass. All Andersen® patio doors have tempered glass, and most of our glass options for other products are available as tempered glass.
For example, High-Performance Low-E4® glass is available in tempered form.

Andersen® products with tempered glass will be clearly labeled with a tempered safety code. To find it, use this article's easy steps!

Locate the Tempered Safety Code
- To determine whether an Andersen® product has tempered glass, inspect the glass for the tempered safety code
(see image below). It should be etched into a corner of the glass, but never in the same corner as the Andersen® glass logo.
- Note: SGCC (Safety Glazing Certification Council) is also etched into the glass near the tempered safety code.
- If your Andersen® product does not have this code, it is likely you do not have tempered glass. If you believe you have tempered glass, but are unable to find the code, Contact Andersen® Windows and Doors for assistance.
