When considering any modification to your Andersen® product, we recommend reviewing the Andersen® Limited Warranties for your product. Any performance or operation problems caused by the installation of a security alarm system may cause the specific part of the window or patio door unit to be excluded from coverage under our limited warranty.
All non-affected window or patio door components will continue to be covered under the Andersen Owner-to-Owner Limited Warranty.
The following are guidelines concerning the installation of security alarm systems:
The use of non-hard-wired ("wireless") contacts are recommended whenever possible, as the need to drill into and through window or patio door components is reduced.
Micro-contacts, with very small and flat profiles, are desirable as they require less modification to the window or patio door components during installation.
Avoid mounting contacts in weatherstrip channels and weatherstrip contact points.
Do not drill through sills, as water infiltration could occur.
Do not drill into glazing area, as glass breakage or insulating glass seal failure could occur.
Do not modify the window or patio door operating or locking systems.
Do not drill into any balancer system or operator system areas.
Do not modify the unit's clear opening dimensions.
For more specific and detailed security alarm installation and usage information, we recommend you contact the security alarm manufacturer directly. Andersen Corporation does not accept responsibility for any problems associated with the selection, application and usage of security alarm systems in conjunction with Andersen window and patio door products. The general guidelines above are intended to alert users to potential concerns and are not intended to act as recommended installation and application instructions.
