Security Alarm System Considerations for Andersen® Windows and Patio Doors

Before modifying an Andersen® window or patio door to install a security alarm system, review the Andersen® Limited Warranty Coverage Information for your product. Damage, performance issues, or operational problems caused by the installation of a security alarm system may affect warranty coverage for the impacted component. Non-affected window and patio door components remain covered under the Andersen® Owner-to-Owner® Limited Warranty. 

Security Alarm Installation Guidelines

Follow these general guidelines when selecting and installing a security alarm system on Andersen® windows and patio doors: 

• Use non-hard-wired (wireless) contacts whenever possible to reduce the need for drilling into window or patio door components.
• Choose micro-contacts with small, flat profiles that require less modification during installation.
• Avoid mounting contacts in weatherstrip channels or at weatherstrip contact points.
• Do not drill through sills, as water infiltration could occur.
• Do not drill into glazing areas, as glass breakage or insulating glass seal failure could occur.
• Do not modify window or patio door operating systems.
• Do not modify window or patio door locking systems.
• Do not drill into balancer system areas.
• Do not drill into operator system areas.
• Do not modify the unit's clear opening dimensions.

Important: Damage or operational issues resulting from security alarm system installation may not be covered under the Andersen® Limited Warranty.
