If the French curve handle on your Andersen® gliding patio door is loose, it may be due to a screw coming loose behind the handle.
Fix a Loose French Curve Handle on an Andersen® Gliding Patio Door
The French Curve handle was manufactured for Andersen® gliding patio doors, but was discontinued in 1999.
This handle is secured onto the escutcheon, or face, plate with one (1) or two (2) screws. If the screw(s) become loose, the handle will fall off the escutcheon plate or feel loose. Tightening the screw for the handle can resolve the concern. See below for steps.

Tools and Supplies Needed
- Safety glasses
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Loctite® Threadlocker or super glue
Caution: Follow the instructions of the adhesive manufacturer regarding safety, material application, and compatibility with this product.
Let's Get Started
Tighten the Handle on French Curve Hardware
- Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two (2) oval-threaded bolts that hold the escutcheon, or face, plate onto the patio door.
- Replacement studs and bolts can be ordered as part of the trim set screw package from the Andersen® Parts Store.

- On the handle set with the loose handle, turn it over and slightly remove the screw by turning the screwdriver counter-clockwise a couple of turns.
- With the screw that secures the handle slightly removed, pour a couple drops of Loctite® Threadlocker or super glue on the visible screw threads and immediately tighten the screw before the glue hardens.
- Reinstall the hardware onto the door panel by following step one (1) in reverse.
