To keep your Andersen® windows and patio doors performing their best, periodic care and maintenance are recommended. Cleaning and lubricating the hardware and other moving components helps ensure smooth operation. Hardware screws, especially hinge screws, should also be checked periodically and tightened if needed.

Clean the Hardware

  1. Remove any loose grease, dust, or debris using a soft, dry cloth
  2. Clean the hardware with mild soap and water using a clean cloth
  3. Wipe dry immediately

Note: Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the finish.

Lubricate Moving Components

After cleaning, lubricate the lock mechanisms, hinges, and other moving parts.

  • We recommend using a Dry lubricant spray Opens in a New Browser Tab
  • Dry lubricant spray can be ordered through the Andersen Online Parts Store or purchased at most hardware stores
  • Avoid lubricants that contain acetone, which may damage your Andersen product
