Measure the Visible Glass on a Window or Patio Door
Directions may vary slightly for single, double-hung, or curved windows. See below for window-specific details.
Stand inside your home next to the window or patio door you want to measure.
Hold the tape measure in the middle of the window or door and measure the width of the visible glass to the nearest 1/16 inch.
Write down that measurement.
Hold the tape measure in the middle of the window or door and measure the height of the visible glass to the nearest 1/16 inch.
Write down that measurement.

Double-Hung and Single-Hung Windows
Follow the above steps, one (1) through five (5), to measure both the upper and lower panes of the window.
Curved Windows
Follow the above steps, one (1) through three (3).
At step four (4), measure to the highest point of the curved window's visible glass to the nearest 1/16 inch.
