The instructions for painting wood interior grilles vary depending on the type of interior grilles used on the Andersen® product. Until 2009, Andersen offered grilles for windows and patio doors using varied materials. To identify the grille material, see the information below. Wood grilles are standard for most of our products. For assistance determining if the products have wood grilles, please Contact Andersen® Windows and Doors. Always finish removable grilles before installing them on the Andersen® product.
If a new interior removable grille is painted on both the exterior and interior surfaces, then no further finishing is required. The exterior side of each wood interior grille is painted to match the exterior finish of the product and should not be refinished. Touch-up and spray paint matching the exterior and interior of the unit is available for purchase through the Andersen® Online Parts Store . For additional information on purchasing paint to match the interior or exterior of the unit, see Matching Andersen® Window and Door Stain and Paint Colors.
The interior face of a wood grille will be unfinished maple or oak. The exterior face of the grille will have a prefinished surface to match the color of the exterior of the product.
