Andersen® windows and doors can feature removable interior grilles, which are secured to the window frame using fasteners or plungers. Fasteners are located at the ends of interior grilles, which secure the grilles to sit on top of the window.

Tips to Determine Correct Replacement Fastener
- Examine your current grille pattern. Standard grille patterns may use different fasteners than custom grille patterns.
- Inspect the ends of the grille itself. Look at the fastener's shape, material, and how it is positioned on the grille.
- Inspect the material surrounding the glass where the grille attaches to in the window or patio door's frame. Look at the window or door frame to determine the type of surface the grille attaches to. You may find vinyl surfaces near the glass and frames that the grilles clip into.

Pivoting Grille Fastener
The pivoting grille fastener is located at the end of the grill and pivots open to allow installation of grilles. Look for a rotating mechanism at the end of the grille. Pivoting grille fasteners are commonly found in tilt-wash double-hung windows and picture windows.

Nylon Chisel Plunger
The nylon chisel plunger is inserted into the end of the grille and has a chisel-shaped tip. Look for a flat, angled plastic tip at the end of the grille. The nylon chisel plunger is commonly found on 400 Series windows without grommets, which were introduced after May 2010.

Spring Plunger
The spring plunger is a spring-loaded plunger that fits into a circular grommet on the window sash. Look for a small spring-loaded pin near the top of the grille to locate it. The spring plunger is commonly used on older 400 Series and 200 Series windows.

The OSF fastener is used on a wide range of products, but commonly found on patio doors, specialty windows, and custom grilles. This fastener is often used when other fasteners don't fit due to custom grille shapes.

Barbed OSF fasteners are barbed version of the traditional OSF fastener for a secure grip in wood. It is commonly used on A-Series, architectural, and Woodwright® windows. It is available in multiple colors.
