Interlock weatherstrip consists of two (2) weatherstrip components that engage by overlapping or fitting together projections and recesses. When joined, the interlocking design helps create a seal between the two (2) patio door panels.
This article explains how to identify and order replacement interlock weatherstrip for gliding patio doors and provides instructions for replacing it.
Replace Interlock Weatherstrip on Andersen® 400 Series and 200 Series Gliding Patio Doors
Andersen® 400 Series Frenchwood®, 200 Series Narroline®, and 200 Series Perma-Shield® gliding patio doors manufactured from 2000 to Present use interlock weatherstrip on the operating and stationary patio door panels. The information below applies to older door models. If your door was manufactured from 2000 to Present, proceed to the next section.
Andersen® Perma‑Shield® 2‑panel gliding patio doors manufactured from 1978 to 2000 used a flexible meeting stile weatherstrip. Although the original meeting stile weatherstrip has been discontinued, we continue to support many of these patio door units with updated replacement components.
For doors manufactured from 1982 to 2000, the current interlock weatherstrip set can be used as a replacement, provided all parts in the set are replaced. Although the current interlock weatherstrip differs in appearance from the original design, it is engineered to provide the same intended fit and performance. To identify the correct replacement parts for your patio door, refer to the information below. If you would like professional installation assistance, we recommend contacting aService Provider.
Important: While this replacement set is compatible with patio doors manufactured from 1982 to 2000, the installation instructions shown below are intended for doors manufactured from 2000 to Present and may not reflect the installation process for older units.
For doors manufactured from 1978 to 1981, a replacement meeting stile weatherstrip is no longer available. While we no longer offer a replacement weatherstrip for these patio doors, a local Andersen dealer or retailer can help assess your current unit and help you explore replacement options that best meet your home's needs, budget, and performance goals.
