Replacing the glazing beads on your Andersen® 400 Series casement or awning window is a simple do-it-yourself project that you can tackle with confidence.

 

 

Installation

To get started, view the step-by-step YouTube® video and written instructions below. The process is the same for both casement and awning windows.

 

Replacing the Glazing Bead on 400 Series Casement Windows

 

 

Tools/Supplies Needed

Safety Glasses

Thin Blade Putty Knife

Flathead Screwdriver

Phillips Head Screwdriver

Glazing Beads

 

  1. Remove the sash following the steps provided in the appropriate guide below:

  2. Carefully place the sash on a flat, clean surface

  3. Insert the thin-blade putty knife between the existing glazing bead and sash. Gently push the bead toward the center of the glass until the glazing bead is pried loose

  4. Once the old glazing bead is removed, insert the mitered end of the new glazing bead into one (1) corner of the glass. Flex the bead so that it sits loosely in the opposite corner

  5. Starting at the edges of the window, firmly press the glazing beads into the sash. When the beads are set, you will hear a "click"

  6. Check the glazing beads for any gaps. If gaps are present, remove and reseat the glazing beads

  7. Reinstall the sash, reversing the steps for removing the sash provided in the appropriate guide below:
