Instruction Guide, (Pre-1991) Perma-Shield® Gliding Window Sash Replacement Instructions (9034246)

First, determine which side of the window sash needs to be adjusted, and in what direction, by closing the window sash to within 1" of the side jamb. Check the vertical gap to make sure it is even from top to bottom. If the gap is uneven, you will need to adjust either the front or back glide up or down so the window sash will be square in the frame.
Follow the installation guide, to remove the operating window sash, the window that opens first.
Please make sure to inspect the glides which are attached to the underside of the window sash with screws. If the glides are worn or damaged, we recommend they be replaced.
Use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the glide 180 degrees (half a turn) either counter-clockwise to increase their height or clockwise to decrease their height.
Follow the installation guide to reinstall the window sash by reversing the steps in the installation guide.
After the sash has been reinstalled, check that the window sash is square in the frame by closing the window sash to within one inch (1") of the side jamb and check to make sure the vertical gap is even from top to bottom. If the gap is uneven, you will need to make further adjustments to either the front or back glide until the sash is square. Next, we want to adjust the inside head stop by retracting it by turning the screws to the right using a Phillips screwdriver.
Lastly, check the operation of the window sash to make sure it moves smoothly and performs as it should. Contact Andersen® Windows and Doors t
oday for additional assistance with a quote for replacement parts.
