Safety Warning

Warning message stating that after tilting the upper sash back into the frame, it must be pushed downward about one inch to re-engage the sash balance; otherwise, the sash may fall and cause injury.

Follow the written instructions below or the YouTube® below to tilt your windows for cleaning.

 

Tilt Sashes Into Your Home

  1. Open the lower sash by about 3 inches.
  2. Grip the latches on the lower sash and slide them toward the center of the sash, as seen in the image to the right.
  3. Pull sash inward, keeping the sash supported by positioning a chair or another piece of furniture below it.
  4. To prevent injury or breakage, do not place anything on the glass.
  5. Once the lower sash is down, repeat the steps on the upper sash by opening the window by a few inches to access the sliding tilt latches.

Sliding Lower Sash Tilt Latch

Return the Sashes Into the Frame

  1. Tilt the upper sash toward the frame while sliding the tilt latches toward the middle of your window.
  2. When the sash is upright in the frame, release the tilt latches.
  3. Test that the sash is properly locked into the frame by lowering it by about 1 inch and pull it gently back and forth to make sure it is secured in the side frame.
  4. Repeat these steps with the lower sash, as seen in the image to the right.
