New Section
A benefit of Andersen® A-Series, E-Series, 400 Series and 200 Series hinged patio doors is their multi-lock mechanism. The lock allows it to be universally handed, meaning that the same lock can work whether your door's hinges are on the right or left.
How to Change the Lock Mechanism's Handing
When you open and close your hinged patio door, the sloped side of the lock latch should be the first thing to touch the latch receiver on the other door or door frame. If the latch isn't pointing in the right direction, it can be corrected in a few quick steps outlined below in a YouTube video or written guide.
400 Series and A-Series Hinged Inswing or Outswing Patio Door Multi-Point Lock
Important: Some 200 Series inswing patio doors are equipped with single-point lock mechanisms, which cannot be changed. The single-point lock mechanism is handed either left or right, so incorrectly handed locks must be replaced.
