Let's Get Started

Check Installation of Gliding Insect Screens on Patio Doors

We recommend checking that your gliding insect screen is installed correctly at least once a year. If you removed the insect screen for the winter, reinstalling it in the spring is a great time to ensure it is still in good condition and installed correctly.

For instructions on installing gliding insect screens, see Insect Screen Installation for 200 Series and 400 Series Gliding Patio Doors.

Clean Gliding Insect Screens on Patio Doors

Keeping your insect screens and their tracks clean is important for smooth operation.

  1. Close your patio doors.
  2. Slide the insect screen away from the operating door panel (the panel that glides) until the lower track is visible.
  3. Vacuum or wipe away any debris from the lower track.
  4. Slide the insect screen back and latch it into place.
  5. Clean the insect screen mesh and frame with a garden hose and mild soapy water. If needed, you can scrub them with a soft-bristled brush to remove any debris.
  6. Rinse off any soap residue with clean water.
  7. Let the screen dry thoroughly before operating again.

Important:

  • Do not use oil-based cleaners or lubricants on Andersen® insect screens. An oily film may remain, causing dust to collect and affecting the unit's performance.
  • Do not paint insect screens or any surface that has sliding contact with other parts.

Adjust Gliding Insect Screen Rollers on Patio Doors

If your gliding insect screen is installed correctly and clean, but still not operating smoothly, the rollers may need adjustment.

For instructions on adjusting gliding insect screen rollers, see 400, 200, and A-Series Gliding Insect Screen Roller Replacement and Adjustment Guide.
