New Section
Andersen® 400 Series and 200 Series gliding patio doors have an operating side jamb weatherstrip applied to the operating side of the unit frame. When closed, the operating door panel will close and lock up against the side jamb weatherstrip, which consists of both an inside and outside piece.
The operating side jamb weatherstrip is only used on 2-panel gliding patio doors. 3-panel and 4-panel patio doors use frame weatherstrip. For more information on 3-panel patio doors, seeCompare Two- and Three-Panel Perma-Shield® Gliding Patio Doors.
Replacement Parts
The inside operating side jamb weatherstrip and the outside operating side jamb weatherstrip are ordered based on the size and exterior color of the gliding patio door unit. White patio door units use White weatherstrip. Gray weatherstrip is used for all other exterior patio door colors, including black.
We recommend vinyl adhesive applications be used in temperatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Open your operating door panel
Remove the original weatherstrip by inserting a thin blade putty knife between the weatherstrip and unit frame to loosen
Clean the side jamb using mild soapy water and a soft, dry cloth to remove any debris or residual adhesive
Using vinyl-to-vinyl adhesive, apply the new weatherstrip. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for proper use and application
When updating the operating side jamb weatherstrip, it is recommended to inspect the operating side jamb plug, located at the bottom of the operating side jamb weatherstrip, to see if it is damaged or worn. If a replacement is needed, pleaseContact Andersen® Windows and Doors.
