Andersen® primed wood casement windows use an operator to open and close the window sash. The operator consists of a gear mechanism and an operator arm that extends and retracts to open and close the window.
To identify the replacement operator needed for your window, the vintage of your window is required. Depending on the vintage of your window, the replacement operator may not appear exactly the same as the operator being replaced.
1936 - 1952: Primed casement windows manufactured prior to 1952 did not have a glass etching (unless replaced). To determine your window vintage, compare your operator to the discontinued operators shown below for 1936 - 1960 primed wood casement windows and use the visible glass dimensions.
Replacement primed wood casement window operators are available for purchase through the Andersen® Online Parts Store.
1936 - 1960
Operator Channel: If replacing a discontinued operator with a 1960 - 1974 primed casement window operator, then theoperator channelmust also be replaced. The window sash may need to be modified and the sill stop replaced when replacing the operator channel.
Operator Handle and Cover: The operator handle and cover are included with the replacement operator.
To order a replacement operator, the following details about your window are required.
Length of your operator arm. Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your operator arm from the center of the rivet to the elbow (or bend). See the photo below for an example of how to properly measure an operator arm.
