Before installing interior removable grilles on Andersen® products, finish the grille's interior surface visible from inside your home. The exterior surface, visible from outside, is prefinished to match the product and doesn't need painting or refinishing. If a new grille is painted on both faces, no further finishing is needed.
How to Paint Interior Face of Wood Interior Removable Grilles
The interior-facing side of the grille will be unfinished oak or maple, while the exterior-facing side will match the window or door's exterior color. If you want to touch up the exterior-facing side, you can purchase touch-up or spray paint to match the exterior color. This article walks you through how to properly paint the interior face of your unfinished, removable interior grilles!
Important: These instructions only apply to wood interior grilles, which are standard for most of our products. Until 2009, Andersen offered grilles for windows and patio doors made from various materials. If you're unsure whether your interior grilles are made of wood, Contact Andersen® Windows and Doors.
