Andersen® A-Series and 400 Series casement windows use an operator to open and close the window sash. The operator consists of a gear mechanism and an operator arm that extends and retracts to open and close the window. Split-arm operators have a folding arm that attaches to a sash bracket 
located in the corner of the window sash.
To identify the replacement split-arm operator needed for your window, the vintage of your window is required. To determine your casement window vintage, locate the Andersen® Glass Logo Depending on the vintage of your window, the replacement split-arm operator may not appear the same as the operator being replaced.
Casement Windows Manufactured 1982 - 1995
Used on 400 Series Perma-Shield® casement windows manufactured from 1982 - 1995.
The original operator cover may not have screw holes.

The operator cover and handle must be ordered separately.

Order Replacement Operator
Replacement standard and corrosion-resistant operators are available.
1995 - Present split-arm operators are universally handed and can be used on both left-handed and right-handed units. The handing of the operator can be changed by cranking the operator completely to the left or right.
400 Series Perma-Shield® Casement Windows (1995 - 1998)
The 1995-1998 operator has a mounting base with squared corners and may not look the same as the replacement operator, which has rounded corners.
When replacing an Andersen® 400 Series casement or awning operator manufactured from 1995 to 1998, you must order the current operator and an adapter plate for proper fit and installation. For more information on operator adaptor plates, see Operator Adaptor Plate Information.
If you have replaced your operator after 2008, then an additional adaptor plate is not required.
