Handing of Casement Windows & Patio Doors

Gliding Patio Door Handing

Gliding patio door units are handed from the exterior of the home, based on the location of the operating panel when viewed from outside. If the operating panel is on the left, the unit is left-handed, and the stationary panel will match this handing. The unit is handed as a whole.

Below are examples of our gliding patio door handing. The door panels with the arrows are operating panels.

Right-Handed Door

Right-Hand Stationary Panel / Right-Hand Operating Panel.

Left-Handed Patio Door

Left-Hand Operating Panel / Left-Hand Stationary Panel.

4-Panel Door

4-Panel gliding patio door units have a right and left-hand operating panel.

The two (2) panels on the left make up a right-handed door.

The two (2) panels on the right make up a left-handed door.

Right-Hand Stationary Panel / Right-Hand Operating Panel / Left-Hand Operating Panel / Left-Hand Stationary Panel.

3-Panel Left-Handed Door (200 Series Perma-Shield only)

The left stationary panel in this unit is not handed.

200 Series Perma-Shield 3-panel doors were discontinued in 1998.

Stationary Panel / Left-Hand Operating Panel / Left-Hand Stationary Panel.

3 Panel SLR (A-Series only)

The center stationary panel in this unit is not handed.

Left-Hand Operating Panel / Center Stationary Panel / Right-Hand Operating Panel.
