If a hinged insect screen door is rubbing on the frame of a patio door unit or dragging on the sill, the insect screen may be out of square.

Check the patio door insect screen for square by using a tape measure. Remove the insect screen from the frame of the patio door unit by removing the pins from the hinges. The insect screen installation guide Opens in a New Browser Tab  is available for reference. Use a tape measure to measure from the lower left-hand corner to the upper right-hand corner of the insect screen. Record this measurement for later comparison. Measure from the upper left-hand corner to the lower right-hand corner of the insect screen. Record this measurement. Compare the two (2) measurements. If the measurements are not within 1/8" of each other, the insect screen panel is not square. Andersen recommends replacing any insect screen Opens in a New Browser Tab that is not square. For additional assistance ordering a replacement hinged insect screen, see Insect Screens for Andersen® 400 and 200 Series Hinged Patio Doors.

If the hinged insect screen is square and is still binding, dragging, or rubbing on the sill or patio door frame, the patio door may not be plumb, level, or square.
